October 1, 2007
West Coast's largest automotive training event slated for March in Seattle
by J.B. (Jerry) Smith

TACOMA, Wash., October 1, 2007 - Since 1985, the Automotive Service Association of Washington (ASA-WA) has been staging automotive trade shows in the Puget Sound area. Over the years, the Northwest Automotive Industry Tradeshow (NAIT) has drawn tens of thousands of Northwest repair and service professionals to view automotive parts, tools and equipment, specialty products, and business services. Each year, NAIT also offered 8-12 automotive management and technical training classes at the show that were well received by the trade. At the 2006 NAIT, more than 350 people attended training programs offered at NAIT.

With the mission to provide high-quality, ongoing training programs to the trade, ASA-WA has changed its focus with the former NAIT. Its board of directors has determined that the need for training should be the focus of its annual event. With that in mind, ASA-WA, in conjunction with the Northwest Tire Dealers Association (NWTDA) and the Washington Automotive Wholesalers Association (WAWA), will present the inaugural Automotive Training Expo (ATE) on March 28-30, 2008. The event will be staged at the Doubletree Hotel in SeaTac, Wash., across from SeaTac International Airport.

In total, more than 30 management, collision, and mechanical courses will be presented at ATE over three days. For a flat fee of $395, shop owners/managers, technicians, service writers, and parts personnel can attend as many classes as desired over the three-day period. The price includes free parking, all class materials, buffet breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday (with keynote speakers), lunch buffets on Friday and Saturday, a buffet dinner on Saturday evening, special hotel rates, and free entry to a product trade show on Friday and Saturday evenings. There will be an established price for attending a single class as well, however, that pricing will not include any meals. [...read more]
